I am a southerner, having
lived most of my life in Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas.
I have transitioned in my mid-life years to a professional counseling
career from my work as a church-based lay ministry counselor. I love
being a counselor!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. This means I have met all the educational requirements, professional exams, and the 3,000 hours of professional supervision required by state laws. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC), certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
I did not set out to be a sex therapist, but chose to pursue this specialization when I became aware of the great need that existed for trained professionals to help bring healing and wholeness to this complex, sensitive, and central part of people’s lives. In particular, I saw a need within the Christian community to help people address sexual issues from a Christian worldview. I encourage Christian clients to develop their theology of sexuality and intimacy as part of their healing process. While I have completed all the requirements for full certification as a sex therapist through ABCST, my current status is Sex Therapist Associate (ABCST).
My M.Ed. in Counseling is from the University of North Texas (UNT, Denton) and my post graduate studies in Christian Sex Therapy were completed through the Institute for Sexual Wholeness (ISW) at Psychological Studies Institute (now called Richmont Graduate School), in Atlanta. I am an associate member of the American Board of Christian Sex Therapists (ABCST), and a member of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS), and the Texas Counseling Association (TCA). My goal is to continue to provide a safe and suitable place where people can talk, learn, grow, heal, and change in order to live a more fulfilling life and enjoy more satisfying relationships.
